Name | Version: | B.S Audio Utility - Enhanced Utility Device 1.0 |
Author: | bsaudiotools |
Device Type: | Audio Effect |
Description: | B.S Audio Utility is a redesign and enhancement of Ableton's native utility device and is meant to replace the original completely. It keeps all the functionality from the original and gaines some new and improved features like true stereo panning or better bass mono options, that will make it an essential tool to your Ableton workflow. Since we think everyone should have access to those essential tools, we decided to give away B.S Audio Utility entirely for free. Key Features - Advanced bass mono options that preserve low-end energy by using only the left or right channel instead of summing, avoiding phase cancellation common in the original Utility device. - True stereo panning for more natural spatial placement compared to balance panning. - Tilt EQ for fast, intuitive tonal shaping of your signal. - Phase correlation meter to identify phase issues in the low end for better mono compatibility. - DC offset indicator with optional filtering to protect speakers from low-frequency bias. - Auto mute function that silences the output when playback stops, ideal for cutting long tails or ambient noise during arrangement. - Overshoot protection with selectable modes (Soft Clip, Hard Clip, TanH, Limiter) to prevent sudden volume spikes and enable safe sound design experimentation. Support & Community: For any questions or support regarding the device, please email bsaudiotools@gmail.com. We also encourage you to read through the manual before reaching out to ensure you get the most out of your plugin. Happy Music Making! |

@Torley Tilt EQs are surprisingly hard to come by even though the are generally quite simple. And super useful.
Regarding the distance knob, i might look into that, however simulating distance can actually get quite difficult, since it's a combination of a lot of different factors including volume, filtering (both from our ears as well as the environment) as well as reverberations, that play into our perception of distance.
In the meantime you can maybe look at the plugins from airwindows, I think chris (the developer) has some really interesting takes on distance processing.

Also, have you thought about adding a Distance knob? Something that'd thin out the sound (not just make it softer) as if it's getting further away from the listener. I think it's one of the great underrated things that's comparatively hard to find vs. regular panning, but would really complement what else you've got going on here. Right now I'm using Sound Particles Air, Auburn Sounds Panagement 2 also has a flexible config. There are older implementations like monolake's own Distance. But it's quite neglected.
