Overview

Name | Version: Pro Delay 1.2.0
Author: RobertSchulz
Device Type: Audio Effect
Description: Do you use Delay in your Sets/Projects?

Did you ever mind that most of the delay plugins which are on the market are very similar in its structure?

My intention with the development of this device was to go some kind of deeper into the construction of a usual delay and add features which aren´t there in common delay plugins, but which I personally wanted much from a delay.

Dedicated to Ableton´s own “Simple Delay” plugin, which obviously is very simple by its equipment parameters, I used to name this Pro Delay, for the advanced features that it provide.

What is the difference between this and common delay devices or better said what makes the “Pro Delay” deserving its name?

1. This delay device has a strict division between left and right audio channel. You can set all of the parameters different from the other channel, under that the Dry/Wet-knob, the delay intervals (which is usual), the Feedback-percentage, the Feedback Ramp (see more below), and many more features I describe you in a second.

2. You have an EQ/filter Section of 8 independent filter bands, where each of these filter has 15 different filter types available (lowpass, gainlpass (lowpass with adjustable gain), highpass, gainhpass (highness with adjustable gain), lowshelf, highshelf, bandstop, gainbstop (bandstop with adjustable gain), bandpass, gainbpass (bandpass with adjustable gain), allpass, gainapass (allpass with adjustable gain), peaknotch, resonant and gainresonant (resonant with adjustable gain)) for each stereo channel build in, which is implemented between the outputing delayed signal and the feedback signal, which is feed back into the input of the delay. This allows you to recreate a more natural aspect into the delayed signal, where f.e. high frequencies get more absorbed from the confronting walls.

The filters itself have each a consistence of one Frequency parameter (Freq), one Gain parameter and one Resonance (Reso) parameter.

3. You´re be able to set the delay interval up to 180.000 milliseconds and you have an huge preset table if you want to sync the delay to Live´s Masterclock:

Sync-Options, which are implemented in Pro Delay:

32/1, 16/1, 8/1, 4/1, 3/1, 2/1, 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 1/8, 1/9, 1/10, 1/11, 1/12, 1/13, 1/14, 1/15, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64, 1/128, 1/256, 1/512, 1/1024, 1/2048, 1/4096, 1/8192, 1/16384, 32/1 dotted, 16/1 dotted, 8/1 dotted, 4/1 dotted, 3/1 dotted, 2/1 dotted, 1/1 dotted, 1/2 dotted, 1/3 dotted, 1/4 dotted, 1/5 dotted, 1/6 dotted, 1/7 dotted, 1/8 dotted, 1/9 dotted, 1/10 dotted, 1/11 dotted, 1/12 dotted, 1/13 dotted, 1/14 dotted, 1/15 dotted, 1/16 dotted, 1/32 dotted, 1/64 dotted, 1/128 dotted, 1/256 dotted, 1/512 dotted, 1/1024 dotted, 1/2048 dotted, 1/4096 dotted, 1/8192 dotted, 1/16384 dotted, 32/1 triplet, 16/1 triplet, 8/1 triplet, 4/1 triplet, 3/1 triplet, 2/1 triplet, 1/1 triplet, 1/2 triplet, 1/3 triplet, 1/4 triplet, 1/5 triplet, 1/6 triplet, 1/7 triplet, 1/8 triplet, 1/9 triplet, 1/10 triplet, 1/11 triplet, 1/12 triplet, 1/13 triplet, 1/14 triplet, 1/15 triplet, 1/16 triplet, 1/32 triplet, 1/64 triplet, 1/128 triplet, 1/256 triplet, 1/512 triplet, 1/1024 triplet, 1/2048 triplet, 1/4096 triplet, 1/8192 triplet, 1/16384 triplet.

4. You be able to set the type of feedback to “Down” (this is the common setting where the feedback/ echoed signal gets in relation to the Feedback parameter more or less half of the amplitude it was get into the input on every feedback turn) or “Up” (which means that the signal amplitude of the output gets in relation to the Feedback parameter more or less doubled of the amplitude of the input signal on each feedback turn).

5. “Mute Input” allows you to stop the signal which comes into the device to get into the buffer. This means that after you click on the “Mute Input”-toggle button only the signal which is currently stored in the buffer gets delayed and according to the “Feedback” parameter back into the buffer.

6. With the “Clear Buffer”-button you be able to clear the buffer of any stored audio signal.

7. The “Delay Time”, "Note Value”, “Feedback”, “Dry-/Wet”, “Mute Input” and “Clear Buffer" parameter got “Link”-toggle buttons, which provide the feature to apply the same setting of a parameter to its sibling parameter of the other stereo channel.

8. After the EQ-/filter-Section (especially after the 8th filter) is a “Volume”-Slider implemented. If the usual Feedback ramp, with the amplitude going linear down or up over the specified delay time, is too simple for you, you can create your own envelopes/ adjustments for the volume of the audio which goes out of the EQ/filter-section (note: EQ-/filter-section is put between buffer output and “Volume Slider”).

9. There is also a limiter after “EQ-/filter-Section” and the Volume-Slider provided. This limiter is especially very useful when you use the “Up” feedback ramp, where the amplitude of the delay stocks itself up to nirwana or when an applied filter gains certain frequency areas.

You can activate/deactivate the limiter with the “Limiter”-toggle button.

You can set up the threshold for limiting with the dedicated “Threshold”-dial.

The development of this device isn´t final yet. I want to implement features by the time regarding especially to your feature requests.

All future Updates are for free if you bought a licence once.

With the licence comes also instant support from the developer (me).

Why it costs 4.99$ ?

I have worked on this device for the last three weeks and spent on sometimes up to 7 hours on developing. For me unfortunately it makes no sense if I would get nothing or too less back in comparison to what i´ve lost on creating this device. You help me with this fee to keep working on the development of this device as well as making Max-for-Live devices at all instead of doing something other in the same time I would get 5 times more money to maintain my alimentations. Also if you look at other Max-for-Live device developer this is an considered average price.

Thank you very much for take a view on that.

v.1.2 all parameters are saveable now in a Live Set as well as in .adv- and .adg-files.
