Description: | Deck of Random (2020) is a Max for Live 4x random source that uses a virtual deck of playing cards to generate its randomness. Each suit can be mapped to any parameter in Ableton Live, and when a card is drawn from the deck, that suit’s value changes to the number value of that card (1-13). In this way, four different random sources are constantly effecting the probability of each other. Cards can be manually or automatically drawn at a set interval. The deck will automatically reshuffle after the last card is drawn, or can be reshuffled at any time. |

Just downloaded it and about to give it a try. But before I do, kudos to making a device that breaks away from a boring GUI. Thank you for sharing this device to the community.

such a unique fun twist on the whole random param generator type thing.

Thank you both! Wanted to make something I hadn't seen before, so I'm glad it's being appreciated!

btw, i get a white outlined box instead of the cards showing up in the card area (windows 10, abes 11.0, bundled max) - it's obvs not a big deal as the most important part: random params/mapping still work, but just thought i'd mention it.

Hmmm, it’s calling Unicode so the cards should be universal, so it’s most likely a font issue. Perhaps Max for Live is calling a different default font that isn’t Unicode compatible on Windows? I’ll have to double check that. Thanks for letting me know!

Awesome! This is very cool. No cards for me either but it seems to work well otherwise.
